How to Take Care of Your Pride Watch

Your Pride Watch is a powerful symbol of your identity and love. It’s also a beautiful timepiece! If you look after it well, it will keep shining and working perfectly for many years. Here are our simple, expert tips on how to keep your watch in top shape.

What to Keep Your Watch Away From

While your watch is built to be strong, there are a few things that can hurt its shine or its timekeeping:

  • Sharp Knocks: Be careful not to hit the watch face or case against hard surfaces. Try not to wear it when you are doing things that might cause scratches or hard falls.

  • Too Much Heat: Keep your watch away from very hot water (like in a shower) and long periods of bright, direct sunlight. Too much heat can fade the print on the face and shorten the life of the battery.

  • Strong Magnets: Keep your watch away from strong magnets. These can make the time run wrong. This means don't leave it right next to things like large speakers, some mobile phones, or magnetic bag clasps.

Know Your Water Rules

It is super important to know how much water your watch can handle!

  • Our Pride Watches are water-resistant up to 3ATM. This is what we call 'splash proof'.

  • What this means: Your watch is safe if you get caught in a light rain shower or if you splash a little water on it while washing your hands.

  • What to avoid: You must never fully put your watch in water. Do not wear it for swimming, diving, or in the shower.

  • The crown: The 'crown' is the little knob you use to change the time. Always make sure you push the crown all the way in after setting the time or date. This keeps the inside of your watch protected from splashes and dust.

Keeping It Clean and Bright

Giving your watch a gentle, regular clean will keep it looking as bright as your pride!

Cleaning Metal Straps (Stainless Steel or Mesh)

You can clean your metal strap every few months. The key is to keep the watch face away from water!

  1. Remove the Strap: If you have a quick-release strap, take it off the watch case first (check our guide on how to change your strap here!)

  2. Wash Gently: You can soak the metal strap itself in warm, soapy water using a tiny bit of washing-up liquid.

  3. Wipe and Dry: Use a soft, damp cloth or a soft brush to clean the strap and the case. Wipe everything thoroughly dry with a clean, soft cloth.

  4. Air Dry: Never use heat to dry your watch. Let it air dry completely to avoid any rust.

Cleaning Leather Straps

Leather needs special care and must not be put into water.

  1. Spot Clean: If you have a stain, gently pat it with a damp cloth and a tiny bit of hand soap.

  2. No Soaking: Never soak your leather strap in water - it can damage the leather!

  3. Air Dry Only: Let the strap air dry overnight. Make sure it is fully dry before you wear the watch again.

Battery and Adjustments

When it's time for the battery to change, or if you need the strap size adjusted (especially for large metal straps):

  • We always recommend taking your watch to a qualified watch repair centre.

  • A professional can change the battery without scratching the case. They also make sure the watch is sealed correctly afterwards, which keeps its water-resistance working!

Get the strap adjusted professionally

You might need to adjust the strap on your Pride Watch for size. We also recommend going to a professional jeweller or watch repair centre. However, if you decide to do it yourself, take a look at our blog How to change a watch strap here, for more information on changing and adjusting your strap
